Operation Encompass
Vale Street Nursery is committed to participating in the Operation Encompass partnership scheme. It is an initiative that has been implemented across the whole of the Lancashire police area with local nurseries, schools, academies, colleges and community health agencies and is a means of providing appropriate and timely support to young people affected by domestic abuse. It was set up to provide early reporting to us about any domestic abuse incidents that occur outside of our operational hours to which a child attending our setting has been exposed and which might have an impact on them the following day. The nominated ‘Encompass Key Adults’ (a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)/Deputy DSL ) will be able to use the information, in confidence, to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children and their families and to provide access to support and immediate early intervention dependent on the needs and wishes of the child. The Key Adult will keep the information confidential and will only share it on a need to know basis.

Our Pedagogy
Our pedagogy is to allow children to explore and learn through modelling the correct behaviours, whilst letting them explore and investigate in a safe and comfortable environment being there to support children when they may need.
For children to have confidence and abilities to explore and learn, they need to feel safe, secure and supported. Practitioners are nurturing, comforting and use positive and encouraging language to promote children’s emotional wellbeing and self-confidence. We embed and promote play based learning, meeting individual needs and maintaining positive relationships.
